DESCRIPTION:
The Open Book Foundation was created with a simple mission: “Bridge the literacy gap amongst low-income elementary schools.” They accomplish this mission by purchasing and donating new books to the Title I elementary schools and community organizations with a literacy emphasis. They believe that barriers exist and often stand in the way for kids in low-income communities, including scare books and learning materials and a lack of diversity in the books that do reach them. This non profit organization aims to combat literacy inequality in low-income communities and schools.
